The area around Medulin has been settled for thousands of years, but the town’s current roots date back to Roman times, when the population started forming closely-built settlements. The town proper is a former fishing village, so fans of seafood should tuck into some local specialties like cuttlefish risotto. The St. Agnes Church, with its white facade is unique in Istrian architecture for its twin bell towers. For visitors who want to see some of the area’s rich history, the green peninsula at the heart of Medulin bay houses the remains of a Roman villa, thought to have belonged to Emperor Constantine the Great, and other ancient ruins, with signs along the way to educate visitors.
