During your 3-hour visit to Arezzo, prioritize Piero della Francesca's stunning "Legend of the True Cross" fresco cycle in the Basilica di San Francesco, one of Renaissance art's masterpieces. Castiglione del Lago occupies a stunning peninsula jutting into Lake Trasimeno, crowned by the 13th-century Castello del Leone (Lion's Castle). Castiglione del Lago on Lake Trasimeno is approximately 120 kilometers (75 miles) southeast of Florence, with a driving time of about 1.5 hours. Arezzo is roughly 80 kilometers (50 miles) southeast of Florence, about 1 hour by car. The distance between Lake Trasimeno and Arezzo is approximately 60 kilometers (37 miles), adding about 45 minutes of driving time.
