Situated in the rocky Hajar Mountains, sports enthusiasts come to Hatta to hike and bike in the rocky landscape and enjoy the fresh mountain air. The historic town, however, is an attraction in its own right, standing as one of the oldest heritage sites in the UAE, and offering visitors a glimpse at a traditional Emerati village. The loam houses, 18th century military towers, and Juma mosque from 1780 have all been restored. In the local ruler’s house, you’ll find artefacts like instruments, weapons, furnishings, and tools for a more detailed look at local culture. The nearby Al Sharia palm farm, with its traditional falaj irrigation system offers a pleasant retreat from the heat.
