The best time to visit Dublin is June through August when temperatures are warmest and festivals fill the streets. May to September offers the most pleasant weather for outdoor activities. Spring and autumn provide mild temperatures with fewer crowds and moderate prices, while winter brings lower costs but requires warm clothing for the damp, cold weather.

Ireland uses the Euro (EUR) as its official currency. Major credit cards are accepted at most restaurants and shops throughout Dublin. Tipping isn't mandatory due to minimum wage laws, but 10-15% is customary if no service charge is added. Many establishments include a service charge, so check your bill before tipping additionally.

English and Irish (Gaeilge) are Ireland's official languages, with English predominantly spoken in Dublin. Irish is taught in schools and appears on street signs alongside English. The friendly Irish accent and local slang add character to conversations, and Dubliners are known for their warmth and willingness to help visitors.

Popular day trips include the dramatic Cliffs of Moher, the city of Cork with the famous Blarney Stone, the medieval city of Kilkenny, and historic Waterford. These destinations range from 6-11 hours and offer stunning coastal scenery, ancient castles, cultural heritage, and opportunities to experience authentic Irish countryside and traditions.

Key attractions include Trinity College's Book of Kells and Long Room Library, the Guinness Storehouse, historic Dublin Castle, and the iconic Temple Bar district. St. Patrick's Cathedral, Christ Church Cathedral, and the National Museum of Ireland showcase the city's rich history and cultural heritage.

Dublin has about 800 pubs, making pub culture central to social life. Pubs serve as community gathering places for conversation, traditional music, and socializing. A half-pint is called "a glass" and a full pint is simply "a pint." Many pubs feature live traditional Irish music sessions, especially in venues like The Cobblestone and O'Donoghue's.

Dublin offers excellent public transportation, including DART trains serving the coastline, Luas trams with red and green lines, and extensive bus networks. The Leap Card provides convenient payment for all public transport.

Dublin's culinary scene has evolved beyond traditional Irish fare to include diverse international cuisine reflecting its multicultural population. Traditional dishes like Irish stew and fish and chips remain popular. The city offers everything from Michelin-starred restaurants to authentic pub food, with Temple Bar's Saturday food market showcasing local producers.
