Watkins Glen State Park

A stunning series of waterfalls and gorges make up the heart of the most famous of the Finger Lakes State Parks.

About

There’s something special about Watkins Glen State Park. It might be that with just a two-mile hike, you can wander between 200-foot cliffs and some 19 waterfalls. It is over 800 stone steps though, so be ready to feel the burn, even as you’re getting misted from waterfalls spilling into the gorge over your head. There’s a few shorter trails leading off from the Gorge Trail, if you also want to wander among the trees or along the rim of the gorge. If you’re curious about how Watkins Glen formed, the park even offers guided tours. There’s lots of amenities for longer stays too, including camp sites, swimming pools, and picnic areas.
